Wolters Kluwer Health Strengthens Leadership Of Medical Research Business With Three New Executive Appointments

NEW YORK, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Wolters Kluwer Health, a division of Wolters Kluwer NV, today announced that it has made three executive appointments in its Medical Research division, which includes Ovid Technologies and Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) journal publishing. Linda Holder was named Vice President and Chief Financial Officer responsible for managing the financial staff and procurement functions; Neil L. Schmidt joined the company as Vice President of Operations with responsibility for global operational initiatives; and Dr. Paul Weislogel has been promoted to Executive Vice President of LWW Journal Publishing responsible for managing the journal publishing business.

Holder brings over 30 years of domestic and international financial experience in equipment, software and services businesses, and has extensive experience with acquisitions and related integration projects. She has held senior financial management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq Computer Corporation and, most recently, with Hewlett-Packard, Inc., where she was responsible for financial management of services for over 100 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Holder also served for several years as CFO for a small publishing company and was a Senior Audit Manager with KPMG Peat Marwick. She received an MBA from Nanyang Technological University, and she also is a CPA.

Schmidt joins WK Health with 23 years of experience in technology-related services businesses, including 17 years at General Electric Medical Systems, where he served in various management roles in operations and marketing. Following his tenure at GE, Schmidt led large services organizations both domestically and abroad for INVENSYS, Plc., and American Cytoscope Makers, Inc. He brings considerable experience from world-class operational environments as well as marketing, sales, and analytical skills. Schmidt received a B.A. from National University, and an MBA from Rutgers University.

Weislogel has been employed by Wolters Kluwer Health since September 2004, serving as Director of Strategic Society Relations for LWW. In this position, Weislogel was focused on establishing new publishing partnerships with medical societies, expanding LWW’s strategic relationship with existing publishing partners and developing new print and electronic knowledge products. Prior to joining LWW, Weislogel worked for Reed Elsevier for 24 years where he covered a range of scientific, biomedical, and clinical and health sciences areas involving proprietary and society journals and books. Most recently, Weislogel was Vice President of Global Society Relations in Elsevier’s Health Science Division, where he was responsible for coordinating the company’s publishing relationships with existing, new and potential society clients. Prior to Elsevier, Weislogel worked at Litton Bionetics, where he was Principal Investigator for a National Cancer Institute contract. He is a graduate of Iowa State University and received his M.A. and PhD degrees from Princeton University.
