YONKERS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 15, 2005-- Hospital Launches Major Technology Initiative to Improve Patient Safety Emerging Health Information Technology, an experienced provider of healthcare information management solutions for hospitals, medical centers and integrated delivery networks, announced that it has been selected by St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT, to implement the hospital’s computerized physician order entry system (CPOE). CPOE will enable St. Vincent’s physicians to view patient records and enter orders for treatment and medications electronically, which has been demonstrated to increase efficiency, improve patient safety and reduce medical errors. According to The Leapfrog Group, a patient safety advocacy organization, fewer than five percent of U.S. hospitals have implemented CPOE.
