CPOE will enable St. Vincent’s physicians to view patient records and enter orders for treatment and medications electronically, which has been demonstrated to increase efficiency, improve patient safety and reduce medical errors. According to The Leapfrog Group, a patient safety advocacy organization, fewer than five percent of U.S. hospitals have implemented CPOE.
