North Texas Cancer Center Provides Medical Care For Cancer Patients Displaced By Hurricane Katrina

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 2, 2005--Patients’ Comprehensive Cancer Center announced the availability of immediate assistance for cancer patients displaced by Hurricane Katrina who are currently undergoing chemotherapy, radiation therapy and biological treatments. Patients from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama can maintain the continuity of their care by contacting the Center regarding treatment, transportation, lodging and insurance. “Timing and continuity are key to maximizing treatment success,” according to Patients’ Comprehensive Cancer Center Medical Director and CEO Dennis Birenbaum, M.D, who trained at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans.
