NEW YORK, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- LeMaitre Vascular is premiering the AnastoClip Vessel Closure System at the VEITH Symposium in NYC, NY, Nov. 18th - 20th. Acquired from U.S. Surgical, a division of the Tyco Healthcare Group. this device is cleared for sale by the FDA, CE marked, and approved for sale in Japan.
The AnastoClip(TM) VCS(R) Vessel Closure System provides rapid and precise vascular anastomosis, replacing traditional sutures. Titanium AnastoClips, placed in an interrupted fashion, facilitate a compliant anastomosis without penetrating the vessel lumen. This allows the anastomosis to contract and expand to accommodate pulsatile flow. The AnastoClip VCS is used in a variety of vascular procedures, most commonly in vascular access.
The population of patients receiving hemodialysis for End Stage Renal Disease is growing at 6% per year with approximately 300,000 patients in the United States receiving this treatment. Use of the AnastoClip VCS for vascular access results in a 20% increase in primary patency and reduced OR time while providing immediate hemostasis eliminating the need for expensive hemostatic agents. This benefits the patient by reducing the surgical revisions to maintain functional patency and increasing the patency survival for AV fistula and AV graft access procedures. All of which add up to a 30% savings for the hospital over the first 1000 days.
A recent study in the Journal of Vascular Surgery concluded: "...significantly improved patency and reduced revision rates for clipped AVF and AVG compared with conventionally sutured constructs.” (J Vasc Surg 2003; 38:229-35.)
