SANTA ANA, Calif., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- PacifiCare Behavioral Health, Inc. (PBH), a national managed behavioral health care organization and subsidiary of PacifiCare Health Systems, Inc. , was selected by the Directors Guild of America - Producer Health Plan (DGAPHP) to provide comprehensive behavioral health care benefits and insurance coverage from Jan. 1, 2004, through Dec. 31, 2006.
The DGAPHP represents approximately 7,000 plan participants whose creative work is represented in theatrical, industrial, educational and documentary films and television, as well as videos and commercials.
The DGAPHP is the latest entertainment organization to join PBH’s client roster. In January, the Writers’ Guild -- Industry Health Fund announced its selection of PBH to provide mental health services for its nearly 8,000 participants. Additionally, PBH provides behavioral health coverage to the Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plans and other leading entertainment industry organizations.
Under terms of the three-year agreement, PBH will offer DGAPHP plan participants inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency coverage. Members will have access to PBH’s national multi-specialty network of behavioral health clinicians and facilities. In addition, plan participants may access an in-and-out-of-network option benefit in support of the guild’s already-existing self-insured ERISA health plan coverage.
The evaluation process included site visits to PBH’s Western Region offices and call center in Van Nuys, Calif., and a review of PBH’s care management processes and program performance by the DGAPHP’s benefits consultant, Mercer Human Resource Consulting.
“Our extensive experience with the dynamic entertainment industry enabled us to best understand their unique needs and concerns about balancing quality of care with cost management,” said Jerry Vaccaro, M.D., president and chief executive officer of PacifiCare Behavioral Health. “We are pleased to begin our relationship with the Director’s Guild and look forward to serving their members in the years ahead.”
