(May 3, 2005) The California Healthcare Institute (CHI) recognized state policy makers who promote medical innovation and foster scientific discovery through responsible public policy at CHI’s 2005 Visionary Award Dinner. CHI Chairman Michael A. Mussallem, chairman and CEO, Edwards Lifesciences Corp., presented the award to Assemblyman Kevin McCarthy (R-Bakersfield), Assembly Minority Leader; Sunne Wright McPeak, Secretary of Business, Transportation & Housing, State of California; Assemblyman Gene Mullin (D-South San Francisco), Chair, Select Committee on Biotechnology; and Steve Westly, State Controller, State of California.
