BATON ROUGE, La., June 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Amedisys, Inc. (the "Company"), one of America's leading home health nursing companies, today announced that it has acquired a single home health agency in Vicksburg, Mississippi, from River Region Health System, effective June 1, 2004. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition represents Amedisys' second entry into the Mississippi market.
The agency is expected to contribute over $2.0 million to Amedisys' annualized revenues. Additionally, Mississippi is a Certificate of Need (C.O.N.) state, which limits other providers' ability to compete in these markets. The C.O.N. acquired by Amedisys in Mississippi covers eight counties, which includes Jackson, Mississippi, the state capital and most populous city.
