Leading technology consultancy for the healthcare industry appoints healthcare IT executive to VP role
Brightwork Health IT (Brightwork), an IT consultancy that helps healthcare organizations with large IT implementations, digital transformation initiatives, and technical resources, has announced that Michelle Strawn has joined the firm as Vice President, EHR and Healthcare Applications. The company also shared that Strawn will work directly with Tabitha Lieberman, President, EHR and Healthcare Applications at Brightwork.
“We are excited to welcome Michelle to the Brightwork Health IT family,” said Shannan Epps, President and CEO of Brightwork Health IT. “Michelle brings a wealth of experience in the healthtech space to our clients, having previously managed some of the most impactful technology implementations in healthcare. And not only that, she is also a great fit for the culture and team that we are building here at Brightwork.”
Strawn brings more than two decades of healthcare experience to Brightwork. Most recently, she was the Vice President for Information Services, Revenue Cycle & Managed Care Applications at Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH) for 12 years. PSJH is the nation’s third-largest health system, providing health services across seven western states.
In her role as PSJH Vice President, Strawn was responsible for system-wide IS revenue cycle and managed care applications, as well as the business informatics teams behind the build, implementation, and support of electronic medical record (EMR) non-clinical applications throughout Providence and Epic Community Connect affiliates. As a strategic leader, she led a multi-state team through a successful build, implementation, and optimization of applications for 1,000+ ambulatory clinics, 60+ acute facilities, and multiple post-acute organizations.
Strawn also served as the Revenue Cycle Director at Providence Western Montana Region and the Patient Access Manager at Providence St. Peter Hospital. She is particularly skilled in the healthcare revenue cycle, ensuring critical access to those in rural areas, and population health management, which also ensures access to all patients as well as chronic care management, quality and safety, public health, and health policy.
Highlighting her experience with both technology and operations, Epps added, “We are excited about Michelle’s unique revenue cycle and healthcare applications experience and can’t wait for her to put her skills into improving IT infrastructure and community health for Brightwork clients.”
Strawn is based in Tenino, Wash., and just earned her MBA from Western Governors University in May. When she’s not busy helping healthcare organizations innovate, she enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family and pets.
“I am honored to join Brightwork and to partner with the best healthcare systems in the world,” said Michelle Strawn, Vice President, EHR and Healthcare Applications at Brightwork Health IT. “I have heard many people say that healthcare is broken. However, at Brightwork, we are fixing healthcare with innovative IT implementations and I’m excited to be part of the solution.”
