VITAS Healthcare Corporation Promotes Bob Miller To Executive Role

MIAMI, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Bob Miller has been promoted to Vice President, Hospice Operations Support for VITAS Healthcare Corporation, the nation’s largest provider of end-of-life care.

Miller’s specific responsibilities include VITAS’ hospice inpatient units, Continuous Care services, hospice services in long-term care facilities and hospice services for residents of assisted living communities. Miller also oversees VITAS’ award-winning Access Initiative, which is committed to increasing awareness of and access to hospice services among traditionally underserved population groups. In addition, he is responsible for overseeing the implementation of VITAS’ exclusive company-wide electronic patient record, VxCarePlanIT, which provides VITAS clinicians with the latest and most effective process technology in patient record-keeping.

Miller joined VITAS in 1989 to serve as Team Chaplain for the Broward County, Florida, program. Within two years, he was promoted to Director of Professional Development for the Southeast region, Patient Care Manager of the Broward County program, and General Manager of the Orange County and Inland Empire programs in California. In 2001, he joined the corporate team in Miami as Director of Education and Training and was promoted again in 2003 to serve as Senior Director of Implementation for VxCarePlanIT.

In addition to his work at VITAS, Miller has been active with both the California and Florida state hospice associations. In 2002, he was elected to serve a three-year term as Section Leader for Research, Education, and Academics for the National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals (NCHPP) of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO). He recently was elected Chair of NCHPP, which places him on the NHPCO Board of Directors.

Miller is a resident of Davie, Florida. He graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in Business Communication from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio. He is also a magna cum laude graduate of Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio, with a master of divinity degree.
