PLEASANTON, Calif., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Puritan Bennett is unveiling the GoodKnight(R) 425 Bi-Level(R) Device, the smallest, lightest bi- level device on the market. The GoodKnight 425 device gives clinicians a new choice in treating obstructive respiratory sleep disorders. Puritan Bennett is a part of Mallinckrodt, a Tyco Healthcare company.
Weighing just 1.5 pounds and measuring 3 inches high, 5.5 inches wide and 8 inches deep, the GoodKnight 425 Bi-Level Device is the latest addition to the GoodKnight family of sleep therapy products. Like Puritan Bennett’s GoodKnight 420 CPAP System, the GoodKnight 425 device offers ultra-quiet operation in a compact, convenient unit.
Unlike conventional CPAP devices that deliver a constant air pressure level to the patient, a bi-level device delivers two different pressure levels for inhaling and exhaling.
“The GoodKnight 425 device won’t crowd the nightstand and is easy to travel with, so patients requiring bi-level pressure can comply with their prescribed sleep therapy wherever they are,” said Lori Thompson, vice president, Respiratory Homecare Marketing. “The small, quiet operation of this bi-level device is sure to please patients and their sleeping partners alike.”
Other features of the GoodKnight 425 Bi-Level Device include an adjustable ramp time for improved patient comfort and automatic altitude compensation. Optional accessories include a cigarette lighter adapter and portable battery pack. For sleep clinicians, the GoodKnight 425 device comes equipped with hour and compliance meters to help track patient compliance as well as optional SilverLining(R) 3 Data Management Software, which offers compliance information and other patient data in easy-to-format reports.
