FLOWER MOUND, Texas, March 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American HealthChoice, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: AMHI) , a medical services company with 30 owned and affiliated medical clinics in Texas (http://www.americanhealthchoice.com/), announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, RehabCo, Inc., has completed an acquisition of the assets of Axiom Marketing Group, Inc., Nevada (AMG), a national distributor of the DRX9000 back pain treatment system manufactured by Axiom Worldwide of Tampa, Florida. AMG is not affiliated with the manufacturer other than the fact that AMG distributes equipment manufactured by Axiom Worldwide. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The purchase allows American HealthChoice to market the DRX9000 Spinal Decompression System (DRX), which is the most advanced nonsurgical treatment available for lower back pain caused by herniated or degenerative discs, sciatica and other common back ailments. Information on the DRX and its use at American HealthChoice's clinic in Katy, Texas, is available at http://www.katyspinerehab.com/ .
"The RehabCo (http://www.rehabco.com/) efforts to place the DRX in clinics nationwide will be led by Gregory L. Westfall, who has been involved with the technology since its inception and who has a tremendous record of success spanning more than two decades of selling and placing medical products," said Dr. J. W. Stucki, American HealthChoice CEO. "This innovative addition to American HealthChoice will pay huge dividends to the Company and its shareholders," Dr. Stucki said. Mr. Westfall already has arranged for the placement of six units within the next 30 days outside of the company's clinics via a proprietary fee per use strategy that will allow RehabCo to ensure "Best Practices" at each clinic to maximize the successful use of the systems. According to Mr. Westfall, RehabCo is already on target for a total of 12 placements by the end of June 2005. More than 50 units are projected to be sold and placed in the next 12 months.
"With American HealthChoice backing, we will be empowered to dramatically increase the $2 million in sales we made last year," said Mr. Westfall.
"We know that patients and referring physicians alike want a treatment that will relieve, and cure, chronic lower back and neck pain without having to go through the expense and trauma of surgery," Dr. Stucki said. "The DRX lowers the pressure on the discs in the back, giving them the opportunity to heal and reposition. Its success rate in clinical testing has topped 86 percent and recurrence of symptoms is rare."
