Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association is the organization in Nebraska singularly dedicated to the coordination and expansion of life sciences activity, with an underlying goal of promoting economic development in the state. Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association is a nonprofit trade association dedicated to development and growth of Nebraska’s bioscience industry. By supporting basic research in the life sciences, development of a highly educated work force and providing a welcoming environment for attracting and founding new businesses – and expanding existing businesses, Bio Nebraska intends to make a significant impact on Nebraska economic development.

The growth of the life sciences industry is creating new jobs and additional tax revenue for Nebraska and supporting the growth of our economy. Here are just a few of the areas that Nebraskans are currently working in: pharma/nutraceuticals; bio/medical devices, instruments and equipment; biological products; bio/pharma/medical research and development; and bio/medical testing and evaluation facilities. By forming a trade association to support the life sciences industry, Nebraska is recognizing that life sciences play a strong role in the state’s economy. This is about economic development.

The Association includes members from a broad range of disciplines, from all across Nebraska. Those disciplines include: academic, agriculture, biotech, government, health care, investment banking, research and development and support providers.

The members of the Bio Nebraska have identified the initial three priority issues on which the Association’s programs of work will focus. Those priority issues are: collaboration among academia, government and industry; infrastructure and industry support; and capital development. With the priority issues in mind, the Association’s focus is on fostering industry/academic interaction; facilitating business development; assisting with professional development; advocating industry positions; and providing central coordination on major initiatives.

In facilitating the collaboration of otherwise diverse organizations to reach the common goal of growing the bioscience industry, Bio Nebraska has initiated study to take inventory and develop a comprehensive list of all of the bioscience businesses and organizations within the state. In addition, Bio Nebraska will continue to support tax incentives favorable to the industry; support the expansion of bioscience R&D capacity; and support moving technology into the marketplace by promoting the commercializing of university technology and promoting bioscience entrepreneurs and emerging companies.
