Acadia’s Nuplazid Fails to Prove Effectiveness in Schizophrenia Trial
In the trial, 396 patients with moderate-to-severe psychotic symptoms related to adult schizophrenia received either Nuplazid or placebo added to their current antipsychotic treatment. The patients receiving Nuplazid showed a consistent trend in symptom improvement but did not hit statistical significance on the primary endpoint.

New Research Finds Link Between ALS Progression and the Microbiome
Researchers with the Weizmann Institute of Science worked with mice with an ALS-like disease. They found that the course of the disease slowed after the mice received specific strains of gut microbes or substances that were secreted by the microbes. The results suggest that the microbiome may play a regulatory role in people with ALS.
