Monash University is one of Australia's prestigious Group of Eight (Go8) universities, recognised for excellence in teaching, learning, research and graduate outcomes. The University has campuses across Australia, Malaysia and South Africa as well as research centres in London and Italy, plus links with more than 110 institutions around the world.
The Monash University School of Biological Sciences is a centre for basic research, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs at all levels of biological organisation, including molecular and cell biology, genetics, development, physiology, ecology and evolution.
Our research achievements continue to sustain our cutting-edge reputation. Monash scientists pioneered the current In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) techniques, and our embryonic stem cell research is assisting the search into new treatments for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
Monash is hosting the Australian Monash Synchrotron, a powerful $206 million particle accelerator that will help make major breakthroughs in areas like cancer, new computer chips and treatment drugs. A $300 million Monash Science Technology Research and Innovation Precinct (STRIP) will be constructed at the Clayton campus in Melbourne.
