In the heart of North Carolina's beautiful Piedmont region is the Research Triangle Park, a 6,900-acre campus dedicated to nurturing research and development organizations. The Research Triangle Park (RTP), recognized internationally as an international center for cutting-edge R & D, is owned by the private, not-for-profit Research Triangle Foundation. Research Triangle is named for the Triangle formed by the three cities and universities: Duke University in Durham, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
