About BayBio (Bay Area Bioscience Association)
BayBio is the voice of Northern California’s life sciences industry. BayBio serves the region’s 1,300+ life science companies, a dozen private research institutions, nine regional universities, and numerous local government agencies. BayBio supports the life sciences community through networking, advocacy, and outreach programs. As a voice of the world’s oldest, largest and most productive life science cluster, BayBio promotes its science and innovation to internal and external audiences. Established in 1990, BayBio was built by a consortium of universities, public officials, educators, and bioscience executives and was charged with the task of fostering a regional climate that nourishes the bioscience life cycle. BayBio members include organizations engaged in, or supportive of, research, development, and commercialization of life sciences products. BayBio is an independent, non-profit 501 (c)(6) organization whose staff and services are paid primarily through memberships, sponsorships, and event registration fees. BayBio provides services to more than 430 of it corporate members through representatives in South San Francisco, San Francisco, Emeryville, Sacramento, and through coalition partners in Washington, DC. In addition to being an affiliate of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), BayBio is a member of the Global Bioscience Partnership, the Technology Convergence Consortium, and other groups.
