OUR MISSION
The Greater Houston Partnership is the primary advocate of Houston's business community and is dedicated to building economic prosperity in the region.
OUR HISTORY
The Republic of Texas chartered a predecessor of the Partnership's Chamber Division as the Houston Chamber of Commerce in 1840, and Chamber activities are covered in newspaper accounts in the 1860s and 1870s. The Houston Business League, founded in 1895, evolved into the 20th-century Houston Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber and the Houston Economic Development Council merged to form the Greater Houston Partnership on Jan. 1, 1989, and later that year were joined by the Houston World Trade Association.
