New Injection Strengthens Immune System Against AIDS

Medical researchers at the Israeli Hadassah University have reportedly developed a new injection that strengthens the body’s immune system against HIV, the cause of AIDS. The new treatment advances AIDS treatment. Present medicine kills the HIV virus; but it consists of a crucial dead end against AIDS: auto-immunity. The latest research focused on developing a new injection that prevents the destruction of new cells that are important to the body’s immune system. The leader of the research group, Professor Rivka Abdulfia, declared: “HIV starts the job by killing red corpuscles, then the AIDS cocktail kills the virus; however, we found out that the immune system of the people, who used the AIDS cocktail for four or five years, did not return to its previous efficacy. We searched for the reason why bodies underwent auto-immunity (attacking native cells) while patients used the cocktail”. Abdulafia stated that they struggled to turn the auto-immune system back. The studies lasted between 1998 and 2002. They observed results of the tests for two years. For the research, seven AIDS-patients were given the new injections. Later, it was found that their infected cells were compeletely destroyed, or had been severely impaired. As a result, white cells increased for five of the seven patients. Abdulfia declared, “It is a fine level for AIDS-patients”. The results of this study were published in the latest issue of the prestigious Journal of Clinical Virology.
