Researchers at Los Alamos National Laboratory are working on biological and computer models of cancerous tumors, hoping to help doctors create better methods to remove tumors from patients. The researchers in the lab’s bioscience division are using a $600,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health (news - web sites) for their work. Jim Freyer, a lab scientist working on the project, said some cells in tumors get an ample supply of nutrients, while others are deprived of oxygen and glucose.
