Job Details

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

The Hardware group at Eikon Therapeutics develops super-resolution, high-throughput optical instrumentation. The Hardware team is seeking an Engineering Technician to participate in future instrument development. As part of Eikon’s diverse team of biologists, medicinal chemists, hardware, and software engineers, you will design and deploy custom super-resolution microscopes and automated systems that will enable the exploration and quantification of Eikon’s high-content datasets.
About You
You are an adventurous, passionate, and creative technician eager to apply your talents to empower a new way of discovering medicines in a highly interdisciplinary biopharmaceutical environment. You are excited about the challenges of developing cutting-edge hardware from the ground up to enable novel technologies and solve real-world problems, and you will bring to these challenges enthusiasm, high energy, intellectual curiosity, and technical excellence.
What You’ll Do

  • Design cable assemblies based on system architecture drawings and PCBA schematic diagrams
  • Build small series of cable assemblies
  • Build and test electro-mechanical assemblies and instrument prototypes based on sketches and verbal instructions.
  • Apply your good soldering skills in prototyping and rework of PCB assemblies
  • Search for parts (cross referencing) and creating part entries in the CAD system
  • Schematic entry in CAD system. (Altium experience is preferred)
  • Create release documentation packages
  • Align optical systems using lasers and cameras

  • Typically requires a minimum of 4-6 years of related experience.
  • Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative.
  • Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions
  • Experience using basic measurement instruments to verify and troubleshoot electrical, electromechanical and optical assemblies.
  • Good communication skills, ability to follow and refine manufacturing work instructions and test procedures.
  • Proficient in PCBA rework and soldering of SMT components down to 0402 size.
  • Able to operate autonomously.  Disciplined to follow established best practices, work instructions and guidelines.
  • Proficient using computers and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Team oriented, flexible, able to adapt to rapidly evolving goals and challenges.

The expected salary range for this role is $41.83/hour to $45.68/hour depending on skills, competency, and the market demand for your expertise.
