Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director and Head of Global Commercial Excellence (GCE) will define the vision and strategy of the marketing excellence area with the view to drive best-in-class marketing capabilities and operations to secure excellence in customer engagement. S/He will also be responsible for the adoption and embedding of those capabilities and operations across global and local accordingly.

Will lead a team of two people and will work with Global Strategic Marketing (GSM), Global Decisions Strategy and Insights (GDSI), Digital and Innovation (D&I) and Learning and Development (L&D) teams at global level and with the Commercial Operations and Marketing teams at local level.

The position is based in either Stockley Park, Uxbridge or Foster City, California, and the candidate should be willing to be in the office minimum 3 days a week.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Define the Marketing Framework that outlines the What and the How we do marketing at Gilead and secure the roll out process across countries and at global level as required.
  • Together with global and local cross functional partners articulate the Gilead customer engagement vision, narrative, and frameworks that supports the change we are looking for.
  • Will articulate further current Omnichannel (OMC) strategic projects and will monitor to inform future needs for digital tech, competencies and processes for Commercial Operations and marketing teams in the affiliates.
  • Contribute to clarify OMC governance and global/local and in country roles and responsibilities across the OMC continuum.
  • Identify the change in mindset and behaviors required to adopt new Marketing capabilities and new ways of working and set up the processes to achieve them.
  • Collaborate with CL&D to input on required Marketing competencies based on the desired mindset and behaviors.
  • Work with CL&D and D&I to support the building of the required learning journeys being responsible for providing the relevant content and delivering the required expert training.
  • Contribute to the harmonization of marketing and sales capability strategy, mindset, and behaviors.
  • Define overall measurement strategy and priorities working with GDSI and D&I teams to inform country OMC and channel execution successes.
  • Oversee affiliate readiness strategy, criteria, and assessment framework as on ongoing bases.
  • Additional projects will be assigned as needed.
  • Will lead a team of 2 people.
  • While this is a people leadership position, it is expected that candidates will be hands on and take on the lead of projects and initiatives as required.
  • Travel up to 30% (international)

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years' Experience


Masters' Degree and Twelve Years' Experience


PhD and Twelve Years' Experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree with at least 18 years' experience and extensive knowledge of customer centric omnichannel transformations. Significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in Marketing or Marketing operations, ideally in country.
  • International work experience and experience working with global markets preferred.
  • Awareness and working knowledge of customer engagement journeys, digital channels, mail, and web strategy, SFMC, and other such capabilities is required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and empowering teams.
  • Highly driven, strong results orientation, and a passion for implementation and moving deliverables forward.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative high-growth environment
  • Able to manage complex projects across markets and stakeholders and ensure on time and smooth execution.
  • Experience in driving large initiatives which involve cross-functional, multi-layered global environment, engaging with different levels in the organization.
  • Ability to make data driven decisions (qualitative or quantitative) and to build compelling business cases and plans.
  • Excellent influencing and networking skills paired with stakeholder management. Gravitas and leadership
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience or knowledge of working with agile methodology from a project planning perspective.

The salary range for this position is: $237,660.00 - $307,560.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
