We are seeking an experienced senior level/experienced Visual Designer who will play a pivotal role in creating and visualizing impactful designs through diverse mediums for high profile projects for Element. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who is passionate about enhancing design and working cross functionally across a start-up global organization. We are looking for candidates with a solid background and knowledge of design and cultural trends to guide creative solutions. Experience with expressing ideas clearly, providing direction and leadership to team members, taking direction from Senior Leadership, and partnering with cross-functional departments on strategy and execution is a must. This role will report to the Sr Director, Commercial Marketing and will be a Remote role.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the overall visual identity and brand guidelines for Element Biosciences, ensuring consistency across all marketing channels and product designs
  • Conceptualize the creative strategy for projects, including big ideas and storylines across all channels
  • Be a champion of the brand guidelines and forward the development and implementation of branded templates and assets
  • Translate business and marketing objectives into ideas that are clear, compelling, visually exciting, engaging and in-keeping with brand expression and standards
  • Oversee the design and visual user experience of our company website and digital platforms, ensuring they are visually engaging, intuitive to navigate, and optimized for conversion
  • Translate ideas and concepts into functional and engaging solutions and be able to effectively communicate ideas and rationale to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Senior Staff to enhance the visual appeal and professionalism of their presentations and initiatives through design support, ensuring a polished and impactful delivery
  • Define image strategy and create image libraries for global and regional use
  • Provide creative direction and guidance to freelancers and agencies to ensure the highest quality of work and adherence to brand standards
  • Use strong project management, communication, and collaboration skills to partner with members of the web, writing, digital marketing, product management, strategic and regional marketing teams as well as stakeholders in other parts of the organization
  • Lead the design and production of marketing materials, including brochures, product catalogs, advertisements, and promotional videos
  • Accountable for the final development and production of creative assets - ensures accuracy, attention to details, and final deliverable overall meets or exceeds the design objectives
  • Contribute to sharing best practices and helping the greater organization learn the vital nature of brand and design
  • Maintain high quality output while keeping multiple projects on track in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, design innovations, and best practices to continuously elevate the visual aesthetic and impact of our brand

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related fields
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in the visual design field within an agency or in-house setting – biotech, life science, technology, or related industry preferred
  • Deep experience with Adobe Suite, particularly Photoshop, Adobe XD, InDesign, and Illustrator; Figma, Sketch, After Effects, Premiere and Media Encoder are great to have too
  • An online portfolio showcasing your mastery of brand identity, graphic design, and visual excellence
  • Strong fundamental design skills, including expertise in typography, composition, and color
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present and sell creative ideas
  • Passion for working with technical content and minding the finest details to create flawless work
  • Highly adaptable, with a diverse skill set and comfort level working in multiple media platforms
  • Strong communication skills, team oriented, self-driven work ethic and ability to meet fast paced project demands, with a desire to grow and work within a team environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 20 pounds


  • Remote, San Diego preferred


  • Domestic travel up to 10%

Job Type:

  • Full-time/Exempt

Base Compensation Pay Range:

  • $119,00 - $156,000


In addition to base compensation noted above, you will be eligible for stock options, discretionary annual bonus, no cost health insurance plans, 401k with company match, and flexible paid time off.
