What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role, you will contribute to Amgens mission of serving patients as the leader in the General Medicine Therapeutic Area (TA) focused on the Cardiovascular and Obesity space

  • Shape the global strategic direction for engagement with the top Opinion leaders (OLs)

  • Drive engagement excellence with relevant Professional Societies

  • Support strategic identification of the next generation of OLs, who will serve as champions to transform patient care and educate and nurture community-level HCPs

  • Plan and execute strategic OL engagement at major congresses

  • Partner with cross-functional colleagues including Commercial, Advocacy, Corporate Affairs, and development, on strategic OL engagement

  • Maintain an active role within TA cross-functional meetings to ensure awareness of potential opportunities for external engagement


What we expect of you

We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The Global External Medical Engagement Director we seek is a dynamic and visionary leader with these qualifications.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of external medical engagement experience OR

  • Masters degree and 7 years of external medical engagement experience OR

  • Bachelors degree and 9 years of external medical engagement experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD), PhD, or PharmD

  • Experience in congress strategy and executive engagements

  • Skilled at engagement and scientific exchange with the external medical community

  • Therapeutic area experience in cardiovascular/obesity/endocrinology

  • Proven ability to work in teams, cross-functionally, and independently.

  • Skilled at effectively presenting ideas and documenting complex medical/clinical concepts in both written and oral communication

  • History of solving problems while exhibiting superior judgment and a balanced, realistic understanding of issues

  • Network of medical and clinical contacts in product/therapeutic area
