Job Description



As Gilead transforms and delivers life-changing therapies to patients, we are looking for a Senior Manager to build and mature our ability to prevent, detect, and respond to crises. This position will be responsible for building, supporting, and managing programs within Corporate Security and Resilience team. This is a role for someone that enjoys working across teams in a global organization, rolling up their sleeves to develop and maintain good processes, work with technology, has an analytical mind, and has a continuous appetite to learn and adapt to the ever-changing growing business and operational resilience landscapes. A successful candidate will have experience in crisis management, travel security, event security, and project management. The candidate will be comfortable working directly with senior executives and will have the ability to simultaneously manage several projects with little oversight or direction. The candidate will be invigorated by the challenge of building and growing programs within a large, fast-moving company.

Reporting to the Director of Security Operations, this position is in Gilead's HQ office in Foster City, CA.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
  • Support Incident Management and Corporate Crisis Management (CM) Team, deliver crisis and incident communications to leadership globally
  • Provide resilience services to Gilead and Kite, including emergency mass notification and satellite phone program maintenance
  • Analyze and evaluate the potential impacts of different scenarios and events on the business operations, assets, and reputation
  • Manage emergency assistance / evacuations and Gilead's travel security program, including governance and implementation through 3rd party vendors
  • Lead large cross-functional initiatives and partner with management from Legal, HR, Benefits, Mobility, and Travel teams
  • Collaborate closely with GSOC and executive protection, event security, security operations, and business continuity teams to develop, deliver and continuously improve programs and practices
  • Maintain program metrics, KPIs and overall tracking for Crisis Management and Travel


Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Experience working with Fusion and Everbridge software
  • Experience in working with vendor partners and leading RFPs
  • Demonstrated strong decision-making in both crisis and non-crisis situations
  • International security-related professional experience
  • Excellent planning and analytical skills
  • Ability to work within a team as well as individually, and ability to adapt work hours to operate effectively across global time zones
  • Experience in building or being a member of a new security program
  • Self-directed, able to adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and work with minimal guidance
  • Proven record of successfully collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Fluency with comprehensive safety and security models, including risk assessment methodologies, executive protection protocols and active and passive security measures


Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Eight Years' Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Six Years' Experience

OR

Ph.D. and Four Years' Experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of relevant experience (law enforcement, military, or private sector) with BS/BA or 6+ years with MS/MA/MBA or a combination of relevant experience and education
  • Demonstrated decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to effectively interact with stakeholders at various levels including c-suite
  • Experience working in a corporate security team environment
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills


The salary range for this position is: $154,020.00 - $199,320.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
