Brief Job Overview

The DEIB Program Manager will partner with the Chief Equity Officer (CEqO) and the Equity Office (EqO) to support leadership and staff with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) efforts. The DEIB Program Manager in partnership with the EqO will be responsible for creating awareness throughout the organization to foster an open and inclusive working environment for global USP. The role will be part of a team and will assist in developing and implementing policies, best practices, processes, and/or programs to enable global USP to deliver on the strategy, goals, and outcomes for the organizations global DEIB efforts.

How will YOU create impact here at USP?

This position will lead and support various DEIB efforts, working with USPs leadership team, volunteers and staff across all levels, divisions, functions, and locations to recommend, design, implement, enhance, and track diversity and culture initiatives that attract, develop, engage, and retain a diverse, high-performing workforce.

Additionally, this individual will champion and foster a culture of inclusion through their commitment and dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The incumbent will partner closely with HR leaders, communications, and the business to build employee belonging and strengthen culture initiatives that support the mission.

In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with and support the CEqO and the EqO in developing and implementing DEIB and cultural strategies and initiatives, including evaluating USPs current DEIB program to identify gaps and opportunities, consistent with USPs People Ambition and leadership priorities.
  • Collaboratively provide advice, counsel or support to leaders and staff at all levels of the organization regarding the execution and impact of USP diversity strategies and priorities with the goal of attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining a diverse workforce.
  • Advise, partner, and collaborate with HR leaders and functions in designing and implementing diversity-focused initiatives (E.g. training and development, recruitment, metrics, etc.).
  • Collaborate with various internal departments to formulate consistent and transparent DEIB messaging and integrate the same into key communications and employee touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with the EqO and People, Technology & Analytics team to deliver and maintain a robust and agile DEIB metrics monitoring and reporting mechanism.
  • Lead routine program management activities including project management, vendor relationship management, forecasting, requisitions, annual operational plan development, progress tracking and reporting, risk management, global connection, program enhancements etc.
  • Partner with the CEqO and EqO in all responsibilities, including: the DEIB Program annual strategy refresh, annual planning, budgeting and launch processes.
  • Partners with program leadership in identifying risks and work with the CEqO and the EqO to resolve and, when needed, escalate issues.
  • DIB Council & Affinity Network: Work closely with the CEqO & team in managing the framework and governance structure, including setting and monitoring goals, objectives, roles and parameters of DIB Council and Affinity Network.
  • Partner with DIB Council and Affinity Groups to align their work with USPs overall business objectives and provide program framework and development support on activities and employee involvement.
  • Maintain a calendar of observances and religious holidays which focuses on key observances and religious holidays impacting the USP community.
  • Create blogs and other marketing materials commemorating observances and partner with affinity groups, as needed.
  • Lead and Manage Online Courses Examples include:
  • Courageous Conversations: Leading thematic discussions based on community needs and assessment.
  • 21-Day Equity Challenges Collaborate with the EqO to design challenges to promote awareness, education and action around diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, leading to behavioral transformation among staff that promotes a workplace culture of inclusion and belonging where everyone feels respected and valued.
  • DEIB Mandatory Trainings Lead and support online trainings for New Employees.

Who is USP Looking For?

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

  • Demonstrated expertise in designing programming related to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging and high degree of cultural awareness, sensitivity, and flexibility.
  • Proven track record of facilitating organization wide DEIB initiatives with multiple senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional curriculum design and program development.
  • Exceptional coaching and communication skills exhibited at all levels within an organization.
  • Ability to handle complex issues with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • A self-starter with the ability to use good judgment to problem solve and capable of driving results.
  • Bachelors or masters in education, communications, HR, public management, public administration, sociology, psychology, organizational development or related field.
  • 5 years experience in developing and leading DEIB initiatives within a non-profit.
  • 5-7 years of professional work experience or project management experience in DEIB.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.

Additional Desired Preferences

  • Analytical skills with the ability to translate data and analytics into insights, stories, and visual representations.
  • Knowledgeable on appropriate federal, state, local, laws, rules, regulations, HR policies and procedures regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion.
