Associate Director, Finance Business Partner, Global Commercial Finance

The Global Commercial Finance Business Partner drives financial planning and strategic analysis efforts for key stakeholders within the Global Commercial Strategy and Operations team. This is a newly created position that will report to the Head of Global Commercial Finance Business Partnering and will help define the partnership with key stakeholders from Gilead's global therapy areas and commercial functions. This individual will manage the short-term financial planning process, budgeting, and business partnering with their stakeholders. The role will be based in Foster City, CA.


The role will include work cross-functionally with Operations and R&D product finance teams to support commercial objectives, including ad hoc work on new launches and prioritization of investments across the existing product portfolio. You will be a business partner that provides strategic direction and is seen as the “go to person” for business financial analysis, insight, and counsel to your stakeholders. This person will be responsible for demonstrating strong analytical, communications, and strategic thinking skills that will drive value to the business.


Essential Duties & Job Functions
  • Business partner to set of stakeholders within the Global Commercial Strategy and Operations (GCSO) organization
  • Lead the 2-year annual operational forecast process for stakeholders within the GCSO organizations, including providing recommendations and business-driven scenario analyses
  • Oversee the monthly and quarterly close process, including management reporting and budget vs. actuals variance analysis for stakeholders. Report results to Commercial and Finance executives.
  • Closely partner with GCSO team to support global pricing and launch planning initiatives
  • Support global Long Range Planning (LRP) process, focusing on Opex business cases
  • Support Global P&L analysis and new BD opportunities
  • Proactively recommend process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our reporting and analysis as well as our operational spend
  • Drive budget and headcount management efficiencies
  • Provide ad-hoc analyses and project support for the executive leadership teams
  • Support ad-hoc cross functional CFO projects.



Knowledge, Experience, & Skills
  • The preferred candidate will possess a minimum of 10 years' experience with a bachelor's degree, having held financial FP&A or strategy positions of increasing scope and responsibility. A minimum of 8 years' experience with a Masters.
  • BS or BA is required, preferably in finance, accounting, or business administration
  • In-depth proficiency in financial accounting and knowledge of US GAAP is required
  • Experience with Business Intelligence, Planning, and ERP systems is required
  • Prior experience in biotech or pharma in commercial finance with in-depth knowledge of US Healthcare systems is preferred
  • Experience in high-growth, multinational organization is preferred.

The salary range for this position is: $177,905.00 - $230,230.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
