What You’ll Be Doing

The Engineer – Serialization role will require the individual to develop a deep understanding of the following areas of global serialization: Requirements (Market requirements and GSP (Global Serialization Program) solution requirements), Design, Software, Testing and how Serialization is implemented within Lilly. The individual will become a subject matter expert (SME) regarding the Serialization software components, Serialization procedures involved on the software cube day to day activities, and on the Systech solution and how Lilly embraces it in the packaging space.  This knowledge will be used to support internal GSP activities, as well as providing activation and operational support to the packaging sites around the world.  This is intended to be at both the Line Level Software (Advisor/Sentri 1/Sentri 2) and the Site Level Software (Guardian). You will also be expected to:

Responsibilities

  • Deep understanding on how the system is configured to meet market and business needs.
  • Deep understanding of the system validation and ownership of the globally maintained qualification templates.  Review instance Test Case creation from testing Templates to ensure correct content based on inputs from the Design and from Site provided information.
  • Review, and provide guidance on, the Impact Analyses (IAs) created by other Process Engineers on enhancements/upgrades/regulatory capability expansions.  The individual will be responsible for creating IAs in the place of the Process Engineer(s) (as a backup).
  • Assure that internal processes remain compliant with global company standards.
  • Own and maintain the training materials that are used to teach and qualify other Software SME resources in the GSP.  Also, you will act as a mentor and will be responsible for teaching, knowledge sharing/transfer, and establishing (and communicating) best practices for the Team.
  • To respond to audit related questions as they pertain to GSP from a system configuration and qualification perspective.
  • Assist the Lilly IT team with the creation of new components, covering the business requirements, being involved in the POC (Proof of Concept) phase of new delivered functionality
  • Support design and deployment activities at the sites through the length of the deployment activities, as well as provide support to the sites in activating serialization for each market and product by providing both remote and/or onsite support.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years packaging and/or automation, specifically related to packaging processes and equipment
  • 3+ years experience in GMPs and computer systems validation (CSV)

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience in serialization and full track and trace.
  • Ability to work across boundaries (functional, geographic, external company, etc.).
  • Good oral and written skills in English Language
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal direction
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as GS1 and FDA DSCSA regulations System integration with enterprise resource planning (ERP, SAP+) and manufacturing execution systems (MES)
  • Knowledge of machine vision technologies including image analysis and inspection Experience interfacing with vision hardware components and familiarity with connectivity protocols
  • Knowledge of the Systech Serialization solution
  • Strong understanding of packaging systems and serialization technology (e.g., SES, vision systems, PLC Ladder Logic)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification

  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time, US and international. 
  • Will require occasional work in a variety of manufacturing environments; some safety equipment and/or gowning may be required.
