This position has the primary purpose of leading the development, planning and implementation of projects and strategies to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of the Supply Chain department.  This person will play a significant role in systems integration (with our IT team) and the development of customer centric solutions such as VMI, custom inventory, EDI and general service level improvements.

Work in a team that will

• Lead the Sales and Operations Planning process (S&OP) for the AMER region, ensuring capacity planning supports sales growth by polymer and size

• Support global S&OP process, recognizing global demand opportunities vs regional capacity, including updates of all relevant management / ERP systems

• Forecast future demand by polymer, size, other characteristics as needed based on historical sales plus market/global intel

• Designate and maintain in-stock program item plans regionally including network optimization and DRP

• Manage inventory levels to market-appropriate volumes, eliminating slow moving, obsolete goods (SMOG)

• Support sales team by tailoring supply solutions for targeted customers that enable extended partnerships and margin growth

• SME for IBP, DRP, and all associated demand / inventory management systems / processes

Other Duties

• Effectively interact with customers, Sales and Operations to create and implement value propositions

• Collaborates with Engineering and Operations Managers to implement efficient and competitive solutions

• Recommend continuous improvement opportunities for existing clients

• May be called on to support new product development opportunities as needed


This position reports to the Associate Director, Supply Chain.  Incumbent must make decisions, based on interactions with various Capsugel and Lonza supply chain and customer service colleagues around the world.  Incumbent must also be able to identify inefficiencies in supply chain and prioritize, facilitate, and implement improvements.

This position does not have direct reports.

Key requirements

• BS degree in Accounting, Management or Engineering with experience in Supply Chain and/or Operations.

• Demonstrated project leadership experience.  This includes identification, development and implementation while adhering to time and budget constraints.

• Highly self-motivated with ability to drive positive change by team building and gaining support from people and resources across the enterprise

• Demonstrated working knowledge of daily logistics activities (transportation and warehousing).

• Excellent PC skills and technical savvy.

• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and team interaction skills.

• High attention to detail.

• Demonstrated commitment to tasks and adaptability to changes or demands.

• Capable of working with little supervision and working effectively with all levels within the organization.

• Travel may be required.


• Experience with supply chain database systems, specifically SAP/IBP

• Experience in purchasing, planning, and/or logistics.

• APICS CPIM certification
