Position Summary

Research Project Manager/Director responsible for coordination and maintenance of excellence in initiating, executing and managing of process-related activities in Research, including management of the contracting process of Research, informs Scientists, schedules/calendars sample receipt, coordinates test article shipping, tracks/follows up with CRO on deliverables and milestones, status updates, schedules calls with CRO, serves as single point of contact with CRO. The primary duties are to make time, information and decision-making more effective within the Research organization.


Essential Functions

  • Acts as advisor/next level leader for SVP Research for processes-related activities
  • Serves as “air traffic controller” for other leaders in Research and liaises cross functionally
  • Serves as “integrator” connecting work streams that would otherwise remain siloed
  • Serves a communicator to others in the organization “on behalf of” SVP, Research
  • Provide technical project management and operational support for project teams.
  • Schedule and manage departmental and team meetings, develop agendas, publish meeting minutes, and track action items to completion within agreed upon timeframes.
  • Facilitate tracking progress of project plans, generate regular status updates, and communicate progress, issues and risk mitigation plans. 
  • Collaborate closely with functional leadership and team members, to ensure projects achieve key deliverables and progress toward milestones and regulatory filings in alignment with company timelines.
  • Facilitate expert scientific and QC review of sections of regulatory documents, where needed.
  • Document and file all reports, process documents, and communications conducted.
  • Collaborate with Finance to monitor project expenses against budget, if required.
  • Work with project teams to facilitate risk identification and contingencies.
  • Facilitate effective and open communication. Execute and align on contracting procedures internally and externally with CROs for studies being run in Research.
  • Reports Accruals to Finance & Accounting. 
  • Files all study data and documents in sharepoint project sites?.
  • Reviews, reconciles and approves invoicing.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a relevant technical/scientific field.
  • Advanced degree preferred or strong demonstration of equivalent combination of relevant educational and professional training.
  • 10+ years of combined technical and project management experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical field.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating functional project deliverables, scope, and timeline to ensure the project remains on schedule and within scope.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze project risks and facilitate teams to develop appropriate mitigation strategies, and impact to overall program/project.
  • Experience working with project management methodologies including project planning, budget development, project management software.
  • Knowledge of GLP, GCP, GMP, and/or Quality systems where applicable.

Knowledge and Competencies

  • Working knowledge of function specific activities end to end Discovery to post NDA stages of drug development.
  • Knowledge of issues associated with biologics drug development and manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving, and assessing impact across functional areas, including the identification of potential issues and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in performing scenario planning including decision analysis.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, understand and record project progress and track action items. 
  • Expert organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Application of Project Management tools, methodologies, practices.
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Project, and other project management software.

Salary Description $156k-$200k, 20% bonus, 10% 401k, RSU & Options
