Associate Director, US Commercial FP&A - HIV


Specific Responsibilities & Skills for this Position
The Associate Director FP&A Finance - US HIV Opex, will be a key member of the US Commercial Finance FP&A team supporting the HIV therapeutic area (TA). The successful candidate will be a valued partner to the business - demonstrating strong financial acumen, proven collaboration skills, a strategic mindset, and a desire to deeply understand the HIV TA. He/she will be responsible for providing opex related financial management and strategic decision support working with various cross functional stakeholders. This position will report to the Director, US Commercial FP&A - HIV and will be based - in office - in Foster City.


Essential Duties & Job Functions:
Provide strategic and operational financial support to the HIV TA, including but not limited to the following:
  • Support the annual opex related budgeting and forecasting planning processes - meeting all deliverables as well as providing recommendations and analyses to ensure resources are optimized.
  • Manage the opex related month and quarter end close processes in a timely and accurate manner. This includes accruals, reclasses, management reporting, insightful variance analysis.
  • As a strategic business partner, develop an in-depth understanding of the business and related drivers to provide impactful analyses, insights and recommendations to achieve key business results.
  • Identify trends, risks, opportunities to ensure business delivers against forecast.
  • Proactively recommend and implement process improvements. Work with Finance colleagues and business partners to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our planning processes, systems and reporting.
  • Through strong partnership, influence and communication, be the voice/advocate of Finance to the business; and of the business to Finance.
  • Provide support for ad hoc Finance and HIV TA requests.

  • Change Leadership: The candidate will be an independent self-starter and a proactive leader with a drive to strive for continuous improvement and consistently challenging the status quo.


Knowledge, Experience, & Skills:
The preferred candidate will possess:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, having held positions of increasing scope and responsibility. 8+ years of experience with an MBA.
  • BS or BA is required, and MBA is preferred.
  • Prior experience in Biotech or Pharma with Commercial revenue and expense planning experience is strongly preferred.
  • Good knowledge of US Healthcare Systems Business Intelligence, Planning and ERP systems is preferred.
  • Understanding of aspects of accounting and finance and knowledge of US GAAP is required.
  • Advanced Microsoft excel and PowerPoint skills required.
  • Experience in high-growth, multi-national organization a plus.

The salary range for this position is: $172,890.00 - $223,740.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
