Moderna is seeking a highly skilled, talented and motivated scientist who will be focused on cellular and biochemical bioassays as well as CMC in vivo studies to support potency evaluation of Modernas mRNA pipeline from early to late development programs and to commercial products. The individual will work with other scientists within the Analytical Development and across the Moderna ecosystem.
Heres What Youll Do:
Contribute as part of the AD Bioassay team towards the development and execution of variety of bioassay methods to support potency strategy evaluation of Modernas mRNA products
Develop, document, and transfer bioassays (e.g. cell-based in vitro bioassay) in support of internal screening, optimization, and scale-up efforts in pDNA, mRNA, and LNP process development and official release and stability testing of mRNA vaccines and therapeutics.
Develop science-driven and phase appropriate analytical bioassay strategies to support development of projects from initiation of clinical development through to commercial manufacture.
Understand and apply scientific principles, theories, concepts, practices and standards for bioassay method development
Demonstrate independent judgment in technique and method selection, protocol and study design and execution; data analysis and use of standard practices and procedures for a variety of bioassay challenges to meet assigned objectives
Work closely with colleagues within Moderna process development, QC, high-throughput testing group as well as collaborate with CMOs and CROs to transfer analytical technologies to multiple sites.
Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:
PhD in Biological Sciences or closely related field with over 1 year of experience or MSc in Biological Sciences or closely related field with over 3-5 years of experience in the development of bioassays
Strong background in biological assay development with advanced hands-on development. Experience with potency assay development, especially for mRNA and lipid nanoparticle characterization is highly desired.
Experience with a variety of bioassay development and their performance (ELISA, MSD, FACS, Luminex, REDA, others)
Experience in method development, method qualification and validation, and method transfer to a Quality Control group or CRO for GMP sample testing
Knowledge/understanding of regulatory guidance for bioassays and potency testing
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams and within a dynamic environment.
Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
Ability to lead complex bioassay method development and suggest appropriate strategy for potency testing
Ability to prioritize work, navigate through ambiguity, adapt to change and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Ability to learn new techniques, work independently and as part of a team, perform multiple tasks simultaneously with a positive attitude, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
