The main objective of the Inventory Specialist is to assist the Supply Chain Planner by efficiently managing materials within the pharmacy. The Inventory Specialist must have extensive knowledge and skills in handling product returns and destruction. Additionally, they will work closely with other departments to ensure exceptional customer service is provided.
Primary responsibilities include ordering, receiving, maintenance, destruction, and inventory adjustments in the SAP system. Assist with preparing monthly inventory reports, managing timely disposition of obsolete and rejected materials through Material Destruction Orders (MDO’s), and assist with performance reports to monitor, measure, and address supplier performance to assure timely and quality performance of supplier. Additionally, providing resource support to the Supply Chain Planner.
Investigate all product returns and document activity in various platforms. Initiate Quality and material destruction order (MDO) processes to document corrective action and product destruction for returns not salvageable. Work with Patient Care Coordinator to initiate product replacements.
Determine raw material or commodity/code needs and proper inventory levels. Create system requisitions and monitor delivery of materials, while communicating priorities to Receiving and Incoming Quality Assurance (IQA).
Communicate with all functional areas to ensure that material needs are met (Receiving, Quality, Labs, Purchasing, Transportation, Manufacturing, and Finishing.
Drive continuous improvements and participate in continuous improvement initiatives led by colleagues.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, within the organization, AbbVie manufacturing plants, third party suppliers and cross-functional personnel.
Utilize and demonstrate proficiency with the use of planning systems like SAP and tools like Excel.
Maintain current licensure and CE requirements, as necessary. Additional responsibilities may be added as deemed necessary for the business by management.
Must have Pharmacy Technician Licensure and Certification, it is a prerequisite for this position.
A 2-year Associate Degree or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in Material Management or Operations; 1 year of experience in Purchasing/Maintenance or minimum total combined years of experience.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience within a Specialty Pharmacy or Retail/Mail Order Pharmacy setting, familiarity with product fulfillment and inventory management in a pharmacy setting.
Ability to work a schedule based on business needs.
Exceptional attention to detail, ability to multi-task and ability to make independent, high-quality decisions and operate under general supervision.
Strong computer skills required including quick and accurate data entry; including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word or Excel software applications.
Completes individual tasks, collaborative and cross-functional acumen, and ability to effectively manage time by adhering to deadlines required.
Ability to express ideas clearly in both verbally and written communication.
Proven ability to possess strong problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
