The Role
Based at Gilead's Foster City location in the USA, the role of Specialist, Architectural Designer will work closely in support of the Workplace team to assist in the management of day-to-day workplace projects to meet critical deadlines.

This role will provide project support in creating and developing block plan diagrams, test-fits, 3D renderings, and conceptual designs in presentation format. Working cross-functionally to execute workplace design projects of more than 100 buildings across 36 countries, ensuring project meet design intent while adhering to Gilead's Global Design Guidelines and Good Engineering Practice standards. As Gilead continues to evolve its workplace, this role will be part of a team that generates excitement in our global workplace related to architecture and workplace design.

This position requires an in-depth knowledge and experience of both interior & architecture in the areas of office and workplace design and will require close collaboration internally with Workplace, Project Management, Engineering and Facilities teams and externally with consultants and General Contractor. Utilize your unique design perspective to bring new approaches to design and strategy.


Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Draw colored block plan diagrams, concepts, test fits, elevations and design details aligning with Gilead's Global Design Guidelines.
  • Create and produce 3D photorealistic renderings and walkthroughs of interior spaces as well as architectural environments/landscape for presentations using AutoCAD and rendering software i.e. Enscape and/or Rhino applications.
  • Collaborate with Workplace team members in project research and information gathering to support the needs of the projects/initiatives.
  • Partner with Workplace team members to gather programming information that is required to support project deliverables.
  • Supporting in updating Gilead's Global Design Guidelines by partaking in the coordination of
  • Responsible for the delivery of presentation decks.





Knowledge, Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree in architecture or interior architecture preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in the space planning of workplace, hospitality or retail projects with a bachelor's degree, or minimum of 2 + years' experience with a master's degree in architecture or interior architecture.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Enscape/ 3D rendering software, in addition to the ability to read architectural drawings.
  • Ability to create 2D CAD drawings and 3D photorealistic renderings for visual representation.
  • Knowledge of California Building code a plus.
  • International experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and Powerpoint.
  • Ability to craft a narrative with images in InDesign and PowerPoint for key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Creative thinker who is detail-oriented, organized, and enjoys problem solving.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to organize and prioritize with minimal supervision.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, open, collaborative environment and be able to prioritize tasks across multiple projects in different phases of completion.
  • Strong team player with an ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates creativity, passion and interest in workplace strategy and design.

The salary range for this position is: $104,125.00 - $134,750.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
