The Neurology Portfolio Strategy and Operations leader will be a key leader in the Neurology Business Unit, promoting operational excellence, instilling performance processes, and driving strategic planning for both in-line brands as well as new BD/pipeline opportunities within the Neuro Business Unit. This leader will be a member of the Neuro BU Senior Leadership team reporting to the Head of the Neurology BU. 



  • Drive focus and operational excellence for the business across the portfolio, including prioritizing investment opportunities across in-line strategic brands. 
  • Drive Business Unit strategic planning processes (quarterly business reviews, board meetings), provide inputs to the strategic plan, and pulls through leadership inputs to inform Business Unit decision making and ways of working. 
  • Analyze Neurology market and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and threats for Neurology business. 
  • Monitors and gains insight into pharmaceutical commercialization trends and creates new initiatives to explore and implement.
  • Evaluate areas for potential portfolio growth over time, including fit with current assets (working with BD team, as appropriate).
  • Provide inputs and analysis to inform business planning for new products/indications. 
  • Serve as the liaison between the Business Unit Head of Neurology and the US and Global leadership team as needed. 
  • Develop capabilities within the organization on how to operate with agility to implement and learn from new projects and ideas- (e.g., agility mindset and strategic approach).
  • Champions and partners with Senior Neurology team to foster a high performance mindset and engaging culture throughout Neurology Business Unit and cross functional partners. 
  • Provide ongoing and updated market “story” to ground all stakeholders in current state truth that will be reported to Executive management, Board, as well as USLT across Lundbeck. 
  • Drives the development of an actionable view, including potential gaps and solutions, of brand performance in the Neurology Business Unit.



  • Accredited Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 8+ years of sales, marketing or other relevant commercial or analytical experience.
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device or healthcare experience.
  • Experience in portfolio strategy and or commercial planning in pharmaceuticals, biotech or medical device.
  • Previous experience leading teams. 
  • Expertise in commercial strategy and prioritization. 
  • Strong track record of delivering on objectives, high level of personal accountability, and a demonstrated willingness and ability to collaborate cross functionally.  



  • MBA or Master’s Degree.
  • Previous strategic organizational consulting experience.
  • Previous experience leading teams.
  • New Product launch or expansion experience, particularly in a new therapeutic class. 
  • Experience working with specialty/rare disease products or infused products. 
  • Experience with portfolio financial analysis, including calculating return on investment opportunities and anticipated synergies. 
  • Experience working on active business development deals. 
  • Experience with business acquisition and company integration.



  • Willingness/ability to travel approximately 30% domestically; international travel may be required. 
  • If based remotely, additional travel will be required to Deerfield, IL, to meet the needs of the role and the business.


The range displayed is a national range, and if selected for this role, may vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s geographical location, qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $240,000 - $275,000 and eligibility for a 30% bonus target based on company and individual performance, and eligibility to participate in the company’s long-term incentive plan. Benefits for this position include flexible paid time off (PTO), health benefits to include Medical, Dental and Vision, and company match 401k.
