What Are We Doing?
Our foundational science harnesses the ability to create and then direct the differentiation of universal pluripotent stem cells into authentic, functional cells that can be used as allogeneic cellular therapies to treat a broad array of diseases. We can also further engineer these cells, enabling them to produce enzymes, antibodies, and other proteins for additional therapeutic benefit. BlueRock is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative leader to drive corporate strategy development, planning, and execution. This individual will partner with the executive committee to set the strategic goalposts for BlueRock, develop the roadmap to achieve those goals, align cross-functional leaders to the strategic plan, and work with finance and portfolio management to embed the strategic plan in the organization through resourcing, funding, tracking, and monitoring.
This individual will understand and inspire the big picture of corporate strategy, collaborative operations, and the cross-company interdependencies that will enable BlueRock medicines to advance into and through the clinic. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will have influence and organizational savvy to drive completion of deliverables and to build and leverage relationships and organizational dynamics to advance corporate goals. Responsibilities:
  • Further develop the company's short and long-term strategy, including the corporate model, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and enterprise objectives, with a focus on advancing our clinical pipeline
  • Manage strategy implementation from a corporate level to operationalize, catalyze, measure, and report on activities directly impacting the corporate strategy to ensure desired results are achieved efficiently and effectively
  • Maintain processes for communicating corporate strategy and goals to all employees, ensuring appropriate understanding and enabling pursuit of BlueRock’s mission
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to support the development, articulation, and continual refreshing of functional level strategies and ad hoc strategies, as needed
  • Partner across functions to identify opportunities to establish and continuously improve business practices to maximize resources and achieve operational excellence across multiple expertise areas
  • Support SVP Strategy & Operations in strategy development and planning, executive and business operations, implementation of key initiatives, and communication of activities
  • Support preparation of key corporate strategic presentations (including corporate/portfolio presentations, all-company presentations, board materials, etc.)
  • Leverage and manage external consultants as required to support strategic initiatives
  • Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering, Science, Medical, or Business discipline, PhD, MD, MBA, or other advanced degree in a related field preferred
  • 7+ years experience in industry and/or client services and in strategy and/or operations functions
  • Previous management consulting experience highly preferred
  • Strong end-to-end knowledge of drug development
  • Proven track record developing and implementing business strategies to deliver results
  • Strong analytical & modeling skills (forecasts, P&L, NPV, resourcing, etc.) with the ability to comprehend broad sets of data and distill/communicate key insights for all audiences
  • Proactive and strategic thinker, with strong facilitation, problem-solving and issue resolution skill
  • Ability to engage and align stakeholders and work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders in a complex and changing environment
  • Pragmatism and ability to effectively manage short-term execution and longer-term strategy
  • Collaborative leadership with the ability to inspire, motivate and influence with emotional intelligence
  • Excellent communication, writing, organization, and presentation skills
