We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic communicator to help drive and execute the internal communications strategy for our global organization, which includes more than 3,400 full-time employees. Reporting to the Executive Director, Internal Communications, the individual will be part of the growing Corporate Communications team under the Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications. This person will be responsible for helping to shape and advance an integrated internal communications strategy that underscores our scientific innovation and the outstanding personnel behind it. The role will focus on providing internal communications support to our global workforce as we think creatively about how to evolve ways of working and engaging employees in the post-pandemic environment. The individual in this role will work closely with colleagues across BioMarin, including other members of the Corporate Communications team, cross-functional leaders and the People team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

·       Support communications needs of major BioMarin functions such as Worldwide Research and Development, People, Finance, Information Technology and Legal, and help to align functional communications with our corporate narrative and messages

·       Represent Corporate Communications on cross-functional internal workstreams and project teams and support change management for enterprise initiatives including the Project Ignite enterprise resource planning transition and Microsoft Teams enterprise launch    

·       Plan and execute communications around key companywide announcements such as quarterly financial results

·       Drive strategy and execution of the Biweekly Bulletin, a central communications channel for global employees, in partnership with colleagues and teams across the organization

·       Support planning and logistics for major company meeting and events, including quarterly All Hands Meeting and Director Forum

·       Work across the organization to identify compelling examples of our scientific innovation, our transformative medicines and the people who benefit from them, and our workforce that makes it possible

·       Create and deliver internal content based on those examples, including intranet articles and videos, newsletter stories, email updates, and presentation key messages

·       Partner with BioMarin’s DEI team and employee resource groups (ERGs) to spotlight top DEI and ERG cultural milestones and priorities

·       Support issues/crisis communications needs at the corporate and department levels as they arise

·       Partner closely with external and digital Corporate Communications colleagues to ensure alignment of messaging and a holistic communications approach on all internal and external communications

·       Monitor and measure the effectiveness of internal communications, and make recommendations for improvement based on feedback and data analysis

Minimum Requirements:

·       At least 3-5 years in internal communications, preferably in-house

·       Excellent writer and natural storyteller with outstanding verbal communications skills

·       Ability to build consensus and influence across the organization and work as part of a growing team

·       Experience in driving successful internal communications strategies using various channels and tools

·       Experience in executive communications and change management communications strategy and execution

·       Experience in issues/crisis management

·       BA in communications, journalism or liberal arts

Preferred Requirements:

·       Experience with internal communications platforms such as MS SharePoint and MS Viva

·       Experience with multichannel marketing tools such as Emma and MailChimp

·       Experience with producing content for workforce-focused external platforms such as LinkedIn and Glassdoor
