The Manager, Business HR is responsible for leveraging best-in-class HR practices to continually construct, deliver, and support programs that establish AbbVie as an employer of choice while empowering all employees at all levels of the organization. They will serve as a strategic partner for the Quality organization within the Operations function, developing HR strategies and executing on priorities.


  • Establish, build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Compliance and Systems Quality organization (~130 global employees) and NC Labs (~100 employees). Responsible for HR results in the business, including HR effectiveness and performance.
  • Attract and retain talent, ensure diversity and development (e.g., leadership pipelines, cross-functional talent moves, and future technical capabilities build)
  • Identify high-potentials and contribute to building the organizational talent pipeline.
  • Responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of all HR programs and processes
  • Along with an Ops cross functional leadership team, serve as the BHR lead for the global Lab Strategy including organization design & effectiveness, culture, training and talent development.
  • Own and communicate the monthly IME and Quality Turnover analysis to Quality and BHR leadership teams. Track trends and data insights.
  • Lead proposals and recommendations to resolve strategically important issues affecting the Quality organization.
  • Maintain strong partnership with key HR partners from all practice areas (Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, EEDI, Talent Management) to ensure elements of HR are successfully coordinated to meet business needs, including relationship management, leadership, HR roles/responsibilities, and service delivery commitments.
  • Manage delivery of HR priorities across the Quality organization.
  • Assist in the diagnosis, development and delivery of HR strategies, programs and services that influence and drive the needs of the respective business. Utilize skills in data analysis and survey results analysis to help generate insights and recommendations around talent, culture and engagement.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to the Quality leadership and managers as well as employees to support leadership development, business decision-making, HR management, problem solving, and performance management.
  • Responsible for conducting job role analysis, stay interviews, exit interviews, and other projects as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Human Resources or Business Management. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 6+ Years of HR Business Partner OR 2+ years of HR Business Partner and 4+ years of related HR experience, preferably with experience in the life sciences, healthcare products or aesthetics industry.
  • Experience in data analysis—including turnover, employee survey, headcount, etc. to generate insights and recommendations.
  • Significant breadth of understanding of functional HR roles/responsibilities and impact on the business. Is a driver with the business.
  • Work experience within a sophisticated, complex corporate environment, as defined by size, geographic presence and/or organizational structure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels, including senior leadership; includes asking great questions, influencing without authority and pushing back (appropriately) with senior leaders.
  • Effective business presentation skills utilizing effective visuals and charts.
  • Ability to influence and challenge the status quo.
  • Demonstrates strong collaboration skills to successfully work cross functionally and possesses an enterprise mindset with the ability to still work with assigned group strategically.

Preferred Skills / Experience:

  • Experience in a Manufacturing, Labs, or Operations environment.
