Brief Job Overview

This is a non-supervisory individual contributor role that supports USP's Global Legal Affairs team. The main foci of this role are to (1) provide program management support, analysis, and guidance on immigration issues to internal stakeholders, (2) assist in the registration of USP corporate and PQM+ field offices, and (3) provide generalized paralegal services in support of the legal department.

The paralegal supports multiple workstreams and may be required to manage projects and/or situations with a high degree of complexity and engage team members to meet client needs and to improve the employee experience. This role provides clients with legal support for immigration and corporate registration matters as well as working independently to perform traditional paralegal duties and optimize various programs housed within the Global Legal Affairs department.

Immigration

  • This role will involve the application of immigration and program knowledge to manage end-to- end processes, provide coverage and expertise on complex immigration issues, deliver analysis and recommendations based on data, design solutions, and communicate with key business stakeholders. Under the direction of the Senior Counsel, the incumbent will provide outstanding customer service back to internal colleagues and employees. Both domestically and internationally, the individual in this role will:
  • Serve as USP's Immigration Program's primary legal point of contact for employees and hiring managers. Provides partnership, education, and support to candidates and recruiters by partnering with internal and external legal counsel to determine, commence, and navigate appropriate sponsorship path and work authorization.
  • Maintain and be responsible for list of all current and potential immigration program participants, including proactive tracking of all submissions, timelines, and due dates; monitoring status; initiating renewals; and communicating with employee, legal counsel, and manager.
  • Create and deliver communications to aid in the understanding of complex U.S. immigration concepts for business and Talent stakeholders.
  • Manage all documentation to support NIV and IV-related audits.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of immigration regulations and international travel restrictions.

Corporate Secretarial Support

  • Support the organization's registrations efforts for its family of entities both within the United States and overseas, including existing and new registrations.
  • Under the direction of the V.P., Deputy General Counsel, oversee onboarding of newly acquired subsidiaries.
  • Manage signature and document requests submitted to persons residing in the corporate headquarters.
  • Maintain corporate structure documents and serve as the primary point of contact for corporate filings, domestic and international.

General Duties

Other paralegal duties, including research, as assigned.

Who USP is Looking For?

  • Bachelors degree 1-year law-related experience under licensed attorney; or P.L. certificate from ABA-approved program.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working on global legal issues within the last 3 years.
  • Minimum 1-year corporate registration experience.
  • Minimum 2 years handling U.S. corporate immigration cases (H1B, L, F, TN, and G.C.).
  • Working capabilities in Microsoft applications.

  • Flexible, agile, and able to team and collaborate in a virtual environment.
