The Director, Launch Excellence Enablement is responsible for developing, implementing, managing and enhancing the Global Commercial Excellence framework that enables a common approach across commercial for brand development, brand launch and global brand strategic planning. The Global Commercial Excellence framework is focused on improving our commercial fundamentals and strategic rigor; improving how we work together, with one shared vision of what good looks like; and improving consistency and effectiveness through a set of commercial tools, analytical approaches, strategy prioritization and tactical engagement planning. This role is accountable as the global owner for all of the associated processes, tools, resources, platforms, training and forums that operationalize this framework.
This leader will collaborate and partner regularly with key stakeholders and leadership across therapeutic areas and commercial regions, including Global Commercial Development, Global Business Operations, regional commercial teams, Finance, R&D, I&T, E2E Operations and others to address the dynamic needs of a diverse product portfolio and to ensure that we are continually integrating learnings and best practices to evolve the framework and improve our efficiency, competency and capabilities to enable launch excellence.
With more than 7 launches across 5 therapeutic areas anticipated through 2030, maximizing the lifetime value of those opportunities through successful launches is critical to achieving our strategy of sustainable, profitable growth into the future.
Ownership of Global Commercial Excellence and Brand Launch Frameworks
Develop and gain alignment within commercial around the long-term vision and strategic goals for Global Commercial Excellence framework inclusive of the Brand Launch Framework and establish a strategic roadmap to achieve them. This includes identifying enhancement opportunities, creating and improving upon processes, tools and platforms to enable. Fully knowledgeable of commercial landscape and requirements for successful launch and continuously facilitates alignment and partnership with launch leaders, Global Commercial Development, Global Business Operations and regional commercial operations teams. Lead global discussions to prioritize enhancements, capabilities, competencies and technology investments that will drive business performance. Accountable for implementing the strategic enhancements and for embedding within commercial teams.
Ownership of Associated Global Brand Lifecycle Business Processes
Establish, embed and maintain required standard global brand lifecycle processes associated with brand development, brand launch and brand management within the Global Commercial Excellence framework (eg. launch sequencing, new country registration requests for inline brands, annual global brand strategic planning, etc). Lead and leverage a global network of cross-TA, cross-functional, cross-regional representatives for regular collaboration in establishing global processes, priorities and enhancements. Must partner with key stakeholders in other functional areas (e.g. R&D) to ensure alignment across and with other global processes (e.g. R&D project operating model). Lead the required change management initiatives to successfully implement processes and ways of working, including training and communications, monitoring ongoing process efficiency and alignment to business needs and priorities.
Lead Global Launch Excellence Operations and Collaboration
Establish appropriate cross-functional collaboration to set and maintain global standards for launch excellence framework/ processes/ platforms. Global lead for operationalizing and managing Global Commercial Excellence framework (Brand development, Brand Launch Framework, Launch Planning, Launch Project management, Launch Leadership governance, Community of Practice, etc.). Facilitate sharing of launch learnings across the organization and pull through into launch excellence capability enhancements. Drive and evolve launch project management capability and manage network of launch project managers. Partner with TA VPs, launch leads and regional leads to drive and embed launch excellence.
Drive Launch Excellence Thought Leadership
In partnership with key stakeholders across Global Business Operations and Global Commercial Development, drive launch excellence thought leadership by continually assessing industry best practices, participating in industry forums and building network of external vendors that can support future capabilities and evolve existing ones. Lead the case for change and further investments and align key leaders and stakeholders in the vision for the future.
Ownership of Associated Technology Platforms
Responsible for ensuring that technology platforms (Sharepoint/Teams, Ignite, PowerApps, etc.) supporting commercial excellence framework are fit for purpose and used as intended. Responsible for ensuring processes are established, there are appropriate guidelines for user access, training is available and conducted, change control is appropriately managed. Partner with I&T and other stakeholders to optimize platform delivery including triage requests, new data / updates, issues, prioritized enhancements and change management. Seek opportunities for new technology and innovations.
• Bachelor degree, MBA preferred
• 10+ years' sales, marketing, medical or related business operations experience. Brand launch experience required, preferably global in scope. Experience in global team environment preferred
• Experience developing high-performing cross-functional teams and track record of transformational project leadership and/or participation
• Knowledge of relevant legal, compliance and regulatory requirements
