Communications Lead – TAK-279Takeda PharmaceuticalCambridge, MAAbout the role:

Join Takeda as the Communications Lead – TAK-279 at the Director level in Cambridge, MA. As the Communications Lead – TAK-279, you will lead all global communications for TAK-279, a highly differentiated oral TYK2 inhibitor being investigated in psoriasis, and Takeda’s new and expanding inflammation programs exploring psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, and additional immune-mediated diseases.

How you will contribute:
  • Direct all global internal and external communications strategies for TAK-279 programs

  • Develop and execute pipeline and/or milestone-specific communication plans, including global material and message development, launch toolkits, global congress communication, media relations strategy, digital/social tactics, and quarterly investor messaging support.

  • Partner closely with global patient advocacy, global corporate affairs, investor relations, and country and regional communications teams to ensure a consistent TAK-279, psoriasis, and inflammatory disease narrative and communication strategy for Takeda.

  • Lead communications efforts for global pre-launch activities and data and regulatory milestones, including scenario planning and strategy.

  • Play integral role on global program team, representing the communications function and providing strategic support and counsel.

  • Provide program information and strategic guidance to countries and regions oninflammation program-relatedissues​ and issues management.

  • Create global disease awareness programs for psoriasis and immune-mediated disease.

  • Advise on communications strategies for major global dermatology, rheumatology, and related medical congresses where data will be presented, liaising with R&D and medical communication teams as appropriate.

  • Develop internal communications messaging to support announcement of major brand and/or pipeline milestones

  • Manage global public relations agency partner and oversee communications budget for TAK-279 programs

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree, preferably in health communications related field

  • 10+ years experience in pharma/biotech company, or an agency, with a comprehensive understanding of the biopharma industry

  • At least 5 years of experience in global product / pipeline communications, preferably in psoriasis / dermatology and inflammation

  • Extensive product launch experience

  • Country / regional level communication experience is preferable

  • Proven track record conducting global communication initiatives, programs or events

  • Travel may be required (15%)

  • Experience in defining project plans and leading / influencing project teams

    • Experience and maturity to challenge and intervene with colleagues

    • Strong ability and experience working in a complex global matrix organization

    • Excellent communication skills required, written and verbal (presentations)

    • Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to meet important deadlines and work well under pressure

  • Track record of successfully working across highly matrixed teams, influencing without authority, and influence change within a large organization

  • Exceptionally strong decision making and prioritization skills; ability to manage competing priorities and making difficult decisions for inclusion/exclusion

  • Required to prioritize and identify impactful global communication initiatives, plan and execute on budgets and deprioritize in times of constraint and limitations

  • Works across many stakeholders at global, regional, country, and R&D level

  • Need to ensure legal and regulatory compliance across all communication content
