Codexis, a biotech company based in Redwood City, CA, is looking to hire a HR Operations Senior Partner/Manager!
Codexis is a leading enzyme engineering company leveraging its proprietary CodeEvolver® technology platform to discover, develop and enhance novel, high-performance enzymes and other classes of proteins. Codexis enzymes solve for real-world challenges associated with small molecule pharmaceuticals manufacturing and nucleic acid synthesis. The Company is currently developing its proprietary ECO Synthesis™ platform to enable the scaled manufacture of RNAi therapeutics through an enzymatic route. Codexis enzymes can drive improvements, such as higher yields, reduced energy usage and waste generation, improve efficiency in manufacturing and greater sensitivity in genomic and diagnostic applications.

About the Opportunity: The HR Operations Senior Partner/Manager will be a self-motivated HR Operations partner to support the day-to-day operations of the HR Department. This position will play a critical role in creating a positive employee experience and in helping us to continue to create a collaborative environment with stronger relationships to embody and inspire the Codexis culture. This position will be onsite at our Redwood City, CA location.  If any of the below describes you, we would love to meet you!

In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Support the full employment lifecycle ensuring a seamless experience for employees, managers and the HR and Payroll teams. 
  • Manage the HRIS and process all transactions relating to an employee’s lifecycle, including onboarding, employee changes, benefits, compensation and offboarding, while ensuring data integrity and compliance. 
  • Administer the benefit programs including systems, communications, enrollment, and employee inquiries. Participate in the annual benefit renewal process and manage the annual open enrollment process including updates and implementation, communications, and post-open enrollment activities.
  • Ensure appropriate audit control processes are developed, refined, and followed in accordance with internal guidelines as well as state & federal regulations.
  • Manage, identify, and assist with HR process and/or policy development, implementation and change management of policies, programs, processes, and systems to augment the employee experience aligned with business objectives and productivity needs.
  • Help develop, partner with consultants, vendors, brokers, and carriers to implement change management, and create and deliver effective communication plans to ensure employees maximize their use of the HR programs.
  • Work with internal clients, partners, and external vendors to ensure compliance and optimization of HR policies, programs, and initiatives. 

The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other closely related field or equivalent work experience is desired. SPHR, PHR or SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP highly preferred. 
  • 5+ years of related HR experience, preferably in a dynamic Life Sciences environment.
  • Proficiency in HR systems and databases as well as the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Expert knowledge in HR service delivery, HR policies, and processes. Strong knowledge of HR best practices coupled with knowledge of US and California employment laws and regulations. Prior experience supporting a multi-state employee population a plus. 
  • Strong Microsoft office skills including Excel, and Powerpoint. 
Additional experience that would be valuable for this role includes:
Ability to work on complex HR problems where analysis of situation or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors including legal regulations, company culture, and best practices. 
  • High EQ and strong people skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, time sensitive deadlines and the aptitude to anticipate needs that impact other HR operations related deadlines
CODEXIS PAY TRANSPARENCY: The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Redwood City, California City is $125,000 to $150,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Codexis is a multi-state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states​.
