SUMMARY:

This position serves as the primary link between Lundbeck, our advocacy partners and our Alliance partners, representing the company’s authentic commitment to patient centricity across functions and in all interactions. This role serves as the key relationship manager with advocacy partners, ensuring coordination within Lundbeck to foster and build strategic relationships with patient and professional organizations aligned with Lundbeck’s areas of focus in Alzheimer’s disease and mental health.

This role will be crucial in ensuring that the patient's voice is heard throughout the organization, influencing decision-making, and fostering a patient-centered approach in all aspects of our business and our communications channels.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Patient Advocacy Strategy: Develop and execute patient advocacy strategies to support the needs and priorities of patient communities aligned with Lundbeck’s Purpose and Beliefs and designated brand strategies. Identify and prioritize patient advocacy opportunities and initiatives that can positively impact patient outcomes.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with patient advocacy groups, patient representatives, key patient influencers and key opinion leaders in the healthcare community. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and alliance partners to ensure a patient-focused approach in research, development, marketing, and post-marketing activities.
  • Patient Engagement and Support: Coordinate and participate in patient advisory boards, focus groups, and other forums to gather patient insights and feedback.
  • Advocacy Campaigns and Outreach: Develop and execute advocacy campaigns to raise awareness of disease areas, treatment options, and patient resources. Represent the company at patient-focused conferences, symposia, and other events to establish the company's commitment to patient advocacy.
  • Issues Management: Respond promptly and transparently to patient concerns and inquiries. Develop and follow protocols and guidelines for handling sensitive patient-related issues.
  • Patient Community Events and Programs: Plan and execute patient-focused events, webinars, and educational programs to engage with patient communities. Work with external partners and advocacy groups to co-host events that foster dialogue and support patients. Organize workshops, community events and training sessions to promote patient-centric thinking across the organization.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact and effectiveness of patient advocacy and communications initiatives. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management to highlight the progress, feedback and outcomes of patient advocacy efforts.
  • Compliance and Regulatory: Ensure all patient advocacy and communications activities comply with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Sponsorships and Memberships: Support the funding request process for national and local sponsorships and memberships, including identifying and recommending opportunities to represent Lundbeck at patient advocacy events, demonstrating Lundbeck’s commitment to brain health.
    • Develop guidance on the process the brand team should use to manage compliant field involvement/presence at advocacy events (education days, walks, and other related events); identify ways for Lundbeck field employees to share company/product information and demonstrate the breadth of Lundbeck’s commitment
    • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance and Training to ensure field compliance training is conducted and up to date; provide support as needed for sales training projects/modules to provide expertise/insight on advocacy to field personnel
    • Collaborate with the brand team on the strategy and implementation plan for materials and messaging at all events
  • Communications: Develop and execute communications that engage Lundbeck employees in advocacy efforts and raise awareness about the activities Lundbeck supports.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS: 

  • Accredited Bachelor’s Degree 
  • 5+ years’ experience in patient advocacy, patient engagement, or related roles within the pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology or healthcare industry
  • In-depth understanding of healthcare systems, patient advocacy landscape, and patient-focused regulations
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with patient advocacy organizations and key stakeholders in the healthcare community
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey patient-centric ideas and initiatives to diverse audiences
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • A passion for improving patient outcomes and access
  • Self-starter with strong sense of initiative, focused on results; able to work well as a member of an integrated, cross-functional team, but can also work independently with limited oversight.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel).

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS: 

  • Accredited Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g., communications, life sciences, public health, business)
  • Previous experience in Sales and Marketing, or Government Affairs, specifically in a pharmaceutical organization focused on neuroscience
  • Experience managing complex budgets.
  • Experience with Veeva/Salesforce platform.
