In this vital role the Executive Director, Growth Brands & Hematology Team Lead (IAS) Oncology role reports to the Head of (IAS) Oncology and oversees a team dedicated to the successful transition of growth brands and Hematology assets from the early to peri-/post-launch phase. The Growth Brands & Hematology Team Lead is accountable for providing global leadership, managerial, strategic, and tactical support to Access Strategy Leads (ASLs) as they develop their integrated Global Access & Pricing Strategies. The team consists of Directors and Senior Managers with responsibility for a group of assets within the Growth Brand and Hematology Franchise.

This role will also be accountable for delivering on above-brand initiatives to build strategic capabilities in light of a rapidly evolving environment which may include health policy shaping and integration into strategies and operating plans. The ED role is highly cross-functional and interfaces with both internal and external stakeholders. They will work closely with the IAS Oncology Head and cross-functionally with Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), Pricing, Clinical, Medical, Commercial, Regulatory, Country Teams, Operations, and others to integrate functional perspectives and to socialize and seek buy-in on IAS strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provides leadership, strategic, and tactical support to team of ASLs and senior managers as they develop their integrated Global Access & Pricing Strategies and other launch deliverables (e.g., Launch Sequence, Global Pricing Policy, Payer Value Proposition, Objection Handler, Evidence Gap Assessment and evidence generation strategies for lifecycle opportunities, Negotiation Toolkit)

  • Stays abreast of major macro-payer and policy trends, generates awareness of potential implications among team and stakeholders, and integrates key considerations into ways of working

  • Provides thought leadership on access related opportunities and challenges facing the business either at an IAS or franchise level (Growth Brands and Heme) at various forums

  • Shares best practices and integrates insights and learnings across team members

  • Works cross-functionally with other functions including Marketing, Medical, HEOR, Real World Evidence and others to align on Disease Area Strategy for Growth Brands and Heme

  • Advances functional excellence and strategy capabilities in IAS Oncology

  • Shares insights and learnings from respective brands across the organization

  • Leads above-brand initiatives to advance Global Value & Access /IAS capabilities

  • Seeks buy-in from cross-functional stakeholders and generates awareness of the outputs across the organization as needed

  • Ensures operationalization of initiatives into existing ways of working

  • Drives innovative thinking and challenges status quo as needed

  • Leads and motivates team; ensures adherence to goals; identifies talent development opportunities, ensures coaching and monitoring of performance; identifies and removes obstacles to ensure team stays on track

  • Accountable for the administration and budget of the franchise

  • Represents access perspective at various forums such as Therapeutic Area Governance (TAG) as needed

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree & 6 years of access and pricing experience OR

  • Masters degree & 10 years of access and pricing experience OR

  • Bachelors degree & 12 years access and pricing experience AND

  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in Oncology market access strongly preferred

  • Executive presence with ability to effectively communicate, lead with credibility, garner buy-in, and develop relationships with cross-functional partners

  • Understanding of drug development and launch readiness processes

  • Knowledge of US healthcare system, including various payer channels

  • Ability to tailor communication to a broad set of audiences

  • Ability to prioritize and proactively identify where there are obstacles

  • Ability to anticipate and understand impact of macro-payer and policy trends

  • Ability to make informed but timely decisions even in face of uncertainty

  • Understanding of the payer environment in major countries, including coverage and reimbursement, pricing, health technology assessment, and health care policy

  • Ability to translate complex situation and pricing analyses to effectively communicate impact to Amgen business

  • Ability to review qualitative and quantitative pricing studies and to formulate price policy recommendations

  • Ability to manage in a highly fluid, interactive, matrixed environment and build business partnerships with affiliate and global colleagues

  • Ability to deliver individual results and results through others

  • Understanding of Value & Access fundamentals

  • Displays self-awareness and emotional intelligence

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $259,255 to $295,313.
