R&D Lab Operations Technician V

Job SUMMARY:

The successful Lab Ops technician will support R&D scientists by ensuring optimal operation efficiency of the  laboratories. 

Primary area supported is Allergan Aesthetics Biological Research and Eye Care Research, and includes multi-disciplinary interaction with EH&S, Managed Lab Services, Facilities & Corporate Engineering, and Pharmaceutical Development with emphasis on planning, coordinating and executing logistical lab operations.

Responsibilities include: scheduling technician visits and escorting the technicians into restricted lab spaces; tracking research lab equipment including inactive, new, movement, and repair or calibration schedules; maintaining lab freezers and the freezer alarm system; facilitating safety inspections and general lab orderliness; tracking and ordering compressed gases; collaborating with scientists to resolve lab related operational issues; overall building safety; etc.

QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):

Education and Experience

·       College degree in a Life Science or Chemistry (Associate’s degree with equivalent work experience will also be considered).

·       Previous work experience within laboratory preferred (college lab experience will be considered).

 

Essential Skills, Experience, and Competencies (includes Licenses, Credentials)

·       Must have good computer skills and working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

·       Must be comfortable handling chemicals and research materials.

·       Must be able to lift 50 lbs, crouch and stand for long periods.

·       Must possess good communication, organizational and time-management skills, and have good attention to detail.  Candidate should also possess good written and verbal skills.

·       Must be a self-starter, proactive and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
