Director, Oncology and Cancer Vaccine Bioinformatics

The Role:

Moderna is seeking a highly motivated bioinformatics leader with solid training in cancer genomics data analysis to work as part of a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary, and fast-paced team. The primary focus for this position is to evaluate cancer specific genomic aberrations and immune evasion mechanisms, translate public and proprietary information into useful training data to help develop bioinformatics algorithms and incorporate this information in individualized neoantigen therapy (INT) programs. The successful candidate will lead a team of bioinformaticians and work closely with software engineers, immunologists, biomarker and translational scientists to support cancer vaccine discovery research and clinical development.

Heres What You Will Do:

• Lead scientific evaluations of different genomics data processing pipelines, especially on somatic variant calling methods.

• Curate cancer specific genomic aberrations that could elicit adaptive immune responses.

• Explore, evaluate, and prioritize external and internal high throughput genomics data to improve INT bioinformatics algorithm

• Collaborate with cross disciplinary teams to support INT research and clinical development.

• Build and lead an innovative team specialized in cancer genomics data analysis and pipelining.

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or related quantitative discipline

• A minimum of 10 years post-PhD work experience in a computational setting

• Strong track record and experience in leading bioinformatics and cancer genomics data analysis teams

• Demonstrated scientific research experience with large scale genomics data processing and analysis

• Experience with R and/or Python, high performance computing and AWS cloud computing platform
