In Durham, North Carolina, Lilly has constructed a new and cutting-edge pharmaceutical manufacturing plant. This plant is one of Lilly’s most technically advanced manufacturing sites and includes robotic technologies like Automated Guided Vehicles, Autonomous Mobile Robots, Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems, and numerous robotics cells that will result in safety improvements, increased productivity, and variability reduction. As a Logistics Process Engineer for the Lilly manufacturing site, you will provide engineering expertise for the implementation and support of these robotic technologies.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
- Know the safe operation limits and HSE specific features of equipment
- Development and support of maintenance operations plans
- Knowing and understanding basis of design for equipment
- Understanding and refining product flow and critical steps on product path
- Applying first principles on process improvement and issue resolution
- Critical thinking and usage of lean thinking for process improvement
- Root cause analysis for downtime-related issues
- Identify bottleneck processes leading to downstream issue areas
- Able to develop new SOPs, best practices and maintenance routines as the process evolves over time
- Understand potential failure modes and recommend appropriate countermeasures for equipment related deviations
- Understand and revise, as needed, PFMEAS and CMRAs
- Understand equipment capability and alarm management requirements
- Having a clear understanding of asset performance
- Partner with Logistics Operations
- Write and manage change controls and deviations as needed
- Participate in an on-call schedule for support as needed
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Minimum 3 years experience as an engineer
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Minimum of 3 years as an engineer in a highly automated environment supporting logistics automation equipment development, deployment, support, and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations and driving continuous improvement in equipment performance.
- Proficiency in delivering highly complex tasks and/or tasks that are highly cross-functional or cross-site in nature and may have aggressive timelines.
- Experience utilizing robotic technologies to deliver value to manufacturing operations.
- Thorough knowledge/experience in cGMP, ICH, USP, and applicable regulations as well as robotics industry standards
- Experience utilizing SAP EWM
Experience with:
- AGV / AMR control systems and fleet managers
- Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS)
- Writing or investigating deviations
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively to customers, business partners, and staff including good oral, written, and visual presentations.
- Interpret and apply solutions to different situations by understanding customer needs and applying strong problem-solving skills.
- Utilize and implement various tools, systems, and processes resulting in improved operational excellence of laboratory and manufacturing operations.
Additional Information:
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time, US and international.
- Position is based at the RTP site in North Carolina.
- Will require occasional work in a variety of manufacturing environments; some safety equipment and/or gowning may be required.
