Join Takeda as a Scientist II where you will independently perform high-throughput cloning, mammalian transfection, purification and optimization work in efforts to advancing early therapeutic discovery using the latest automation technologies. You will also contribute to the design of new vector formats for increased expression of antibodies, bispecifics, and other biologic modalities and optimize expression conditions in plate format to increase protein production. As part of the, Therapeutic Generation and Screening team you will report to the Senior Scientist and participate on matrix project teams and interface with members of Biologics Engineering and other therapeutic groups.
How you will contribute:Under minimal supervision, perform high-throughput (HTP) production of antibodies, bispecifics and protein antigens used to discover and advance novel therapeutics.
Help with the design of new vector formats that will be used for HTP protein production of bispecifics and multi-format biologics.
Have experience with transient expression and purification of protein constructs from a variety of mammalian host-cell systems using automated liquid handlers (Tecan, Hamilton, Dynamic Devices).
Produce plasmid DNA using high throughput cloning techniques.
Collaborate with automation engineers and independently implement solutions for protein production using a variety of automation equipment.
Perform cell culture work including the maintenance of cell lines.
Evaluate and implement new methods for high throughput protein expression and purification.
Perform data analysis and troubleshooting.
Summarize and communicate results at team meetings and contribute to scientific discussions.
Proficient at tracking data using LIMS systems and maintaining a detailed electronic notebook.
Initiate investigation of new experimental approaches to a wide range of problems using scientific theory and technical literature.
PhD degree in a Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related discipline with 2+ years experience, or
MS with 8+ years experience, or
BS with 10+ years experience
Strong background and experience in molecular biology, cloning, vector design, and mammalian cell culture. Also has experience with protein purification and LIMS, preferably GeneData Biologics.
Experience with molecular biology techniques and software such as SnapGene and Geneious Prime.
Previous experience in HTP platforms for biologics discovery required.
Experience in protein purification principles and methods.
Previous hands-on experience with laboratory automation and programming. Preferably with Dynamic Devices Lynx Instruments.
Track record demonstrating analytical and bench skills.
