Lets do this. Lets change the world. Amgens Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) is seeking a Principal Scientist and Group Leader to build a new team focused on the study of RNA binding proteins. The IPP is charged with developing Amgens newest drug modalities aimed at expanding the druggable genome through the use of Proximity Biology. This new team will focus on modulating disease biology by targeting RNA binding proteins and mRNA with small molecule molecular glues.

The Group Leader will be a key strategic partner in the IPP.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities, including external academic engagement.
  • Hire a new, multidisciplinary team to support early discovery, establishing novel mRNA targeting technology through RNA binding proteins, advancing our pipeline, publishing, and mentoring early career scientists.
  • The ideal candidate will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment along with a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for taking on difficult research challenges.
  • Experience in RNA biology, RNA binding proteins, biochemistry, cell biology, and molecular biology are required.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate Degree with 2 years experience

OR

Masters degree and 5years of related scientific experience

OR

Bachelors degree and 7 years of related scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. with postdoctoral training and research experience in the field of RNA biology
  • Strong capability as a mentor
  • Need to be able to demonstrate a track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by a strong publication record
  • Broad knowledge of molecular and cellular biology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and can work effectively in a highly collaborative research environment.
  • Flexibility to work in teams to achieve changing project goals and meet timelines
  • Detailed knowledge in RNA binding proteins, including structure, function, and disease associations
  • Experience evaluating RNA structure
  • Desire to be a team player in a dynamic, cross-functional environment

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $133,587-161,231.
