Job Details
We are seeking a motivated, passionate, and driven Ph.D. level scientist to join our Immunology & Inflammation team. As a Sr Scientist, you will help drive projects and work in a matrix environment of researchers with expertise across in vitro and in vivo model systems. The selected individual will apply their background in Immunology to focus on identifying and evaluating novel therapies with the goal of restoring and/or inducing immunological tolerance in autoimmune disease.
You will apply ground breaking technologies and approaches, use public and internal databases, and therapeutic modality agnostic approaches to support early-stage target discovery and advancement of current programs targeting innate and adaptive immune cells to restore tissue homeostasis in disease settings. You will independently design complex and data-driven experiments, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting the data to communicate results to management, department heads, and project teams. Demonstrating your ability to translate such knowledge from animal models and in vitro primary cell assays, and apply it to identify targets or pathways as potential therapeutic modalities for immune diseases will be essential to your success within this role and our team.
As a Sr Scientist, a typical day might include the following:
Designing and completing in vivo assays to support the characterization and evaluation of novel molecules as well as cell-based assays/other technologies to identify and study mechanisms of pathological inflammation.
Identifying and validating new targets/pathways with a focus on immune modulatory pathways in the context of tissue homeostasis and immune-driven diseases.
Developing and optimizing disease mouse models of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases and analyzing associated pathologies by flow cytometry and other methodologies in collaboration with core groups (e.g., RNASeq, histology, ELISA, MSD).
Contributing to project management by developing and/or troubleshooting creative methods, technology, and in vitro and in vivo models.
Collaborating proactively with team members to coordinate in vivo experiments, and with other departments for cross-functional efforts.
Interpreting and summarizing key findings from complex data sets.
Participating in departmental and cross-company meetings and collaborating/liaising others internally and externally.
Presenting at outside conferences and publishing in journals.
Are passionately curious about understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of immune-mediated diseases, their complex interaction with tissue signals, and the identification of novel approaches to modulate them.
Thrive as an independent scientist and enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
Exhibit superb interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Seek to develop your skills further, pursue scientific ideas, and have an appetite for learning and new technologies.
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have earned a Ph.D. in Immunology, Cellular, Molecular Biology, or a related field and successfully completed a post-doctoral assignment. A vast knowledge of immunology, as well as an excellent publication record, is required. Applicants with 3+ years of experience in academia or industry (following their post-doc) are strongly encouraged to apply.
