Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced In Vitro biologist/Molecular Pharmacologist to join our drug discovery team. This role will be at the Senior Scientist or Principal Scientist level depending on experience. The successful candidate will have a proven track record driving drug discovery programs with in vitro biology support from target assessment through lead optimization. We are looking for a passionate scientist who can successfully work in multi-disciplinary teams across common target classes to advance target validation and early drug discovery efforts.

Our drug discovery and early clinical development team includes a cross-functional group of scientists and drug developers with experience working on all common target classes and therapeutic areas. The group is supported by more than 100 software developers and engineers as well as a large-scale compute infrastructure to apply our proprietary physics-based drug design and optimization platform. What you will do:
  • Guide research strategy for exploratory and early stage drug discovery efforts

  • Work as the in vitro biology or molecular pharmacology lead for drug discovery programs and manage experimental design, development and implementation of biochemical, biophysical and cell based assays for novel protein targets

  • Responsible for data review, analysis and interpretation of in vitro results, and troubleshooting issues related to drug discovery projects.

  • Independently manage CRO scientists to support, guide and troubleshoot IVB assay development 

  • Support ongoing drug discovery programs with in vitro biology and molecular pharmacology expertise

  • Take part in new target identification and tractability assessment


What you should have:

  • PhD in molecular pharmacology, biochemistry, or related field with 3+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries

  • In depth knowledge of protein biochemistry, enzymology, and biophysics

  • Extensive experience in in vitro biology assay development and execution as it relates to HitID, LI, LO phases of drug discovery

  • Demonstrated success in applying in vitro biology tools to support and advance drug discovery programs

  • Experience in biophysical techniques such as SPR, MST, ITC, etc. desired

  • Deep understanding of molecular and cell biology desired

  • Experience managing external studies at CROs desired

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively with other scientists and research associates to accomplish goals on tight timelines

  • Comfortable working across a number of disease areas and able to shift gears quickly

  • Must be open to change and the unknown with a creative and resourceful nature; a self-starter, proactive and results-oriented with high performance standards

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be able to accurately document results according to best scientific practice

  • Skilled at working in a multidisciplinary environment

Estimated base salary range: $130,000 - $180,000 (NYC only). Actual compensation package is dependent on a number of factors, including, for example, experience, education, degrees held, market data, and business needs.
